The War Against Fuzz
For someone who does not take pleasure in looking at the human’s insides (I mean who does?) I must say this video by Gil Hedley was done in a humorous way that makes looking at cadavers fun. Who would have thought? SERIOUSLY – who would have thought?

We are fighting a war against the fuzz – not the fuzz of your cat or the fuzz on your clothes. I am talking about the fuzz that grows between your muscles when you are sedentary for too long. Again just to make sure we are clear – it is not the fuzz on your clothes (although I am fighting a losing battle against the fuzz on my pricey Lulu pants – if anyone has a way for it to become a winning battle, PLEASE feel free to comment) Side note over – back to the real fuzz issue. Unbeknownst to me for example, while we are sleeping, our body regenerates its facial armor. What in the world does this mean and why is it causing a war? For an intelligent answer with scientific evidence behind it, watch the video above. For the purpose of this post, I’ll explain it using the best of my limited vocabulary.
When you are sleeping the adjacent muscles grow fuzz (see gory graphic photo below) and in the morning when you stretch, you melt the fuzz.
That stiffness you feel is the solidifying of your tissues due to the fuzz. Stretching regularly melts the fuzz and keeps you mobile. Going back to a cat, every cat gets up after a nap and stretches out its body. For a quick example, say you have a shoulder injury and you wake up, fearful of the pain do not move it for a day, then a week then a month - now you have a month's worth of fuzz grown. You get where I am going right? So now the fuzz has intertwined and grown thicker so that your slowly becoming immobile. Get it? Essentially stretching and movement is crucial to our mobility. See gory picture below, do you see the difference? If not - put on your eyeglasses.
Ok that is as much as my tired brain can explain. I highly recommend watching the 5 minute video because it is funny and somewhat mind blowing.
