The Power Of Touch
Today is International Woman's Day and I went to a special class taught by Linda focusing on our inner goddess. When I was setting up my mat I noticed a little girl, who I see frequently going to Hailey’s kids yoga class, seeming a bit lost. We had switched studios today to accommodate a larger class. I went up to her and explained it was on the other end of the studio. She still seemed a little confused so I started walking her in that direction. As we walked she still seemed disoriented. Then she grabbed my hand. This is what she needed, the simplicity of holding hands to know she was safe and being led the correct way.
Afterwards I got back to my mat to enjoy my Wednesday yoga class through a sweaty, invigorating flow. As we laid there in savasna, eyes closed pulling our mind inward I felt my fellow yogi trainee press her finger tips into my forehead gently massaging my temples, releasing further any stress I may have been holding. When she was done a tear streamed down my face. I hadn’t realized the true power of touch. It dawned on me that perhaps I needed that gentle hand possibly more than the little girl I walked to class. I think at times we are incredibly moved by the gentle touch of a kind stranger.
Happy Woman’s Day - xoxo
